Beaumont, TX — On February 21, Exxpress Mart
owners Imad and Elias Sarkis raised awareness and funds to help the Gift of Life
continue their mission to save lives by presenting the organization with a $25,000 donation.
The Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” Program was established in Beaumont, Texas, in 1994 by Regina Rogers as a tribute to her mother, Julie, a breast cancer survivor, who had a double mastectomy in 1988 and who died following complications from a stroke and heart attack in 1998. Originally dedicated to providing free mammograms for medically underserved women, in the past twelve years, the organization’s services have multiplied and the agency has grown into one of the largest cancer screening initiatives of its type in the state of Texas.
Both men are longtime TFFA Members — Imad having served on the Board of Directors for several years. The financial gift exemplifies how deeply committed the two are to making a difference in Southeast Texas.
Convenience stores in Texas contribute nearly $100 million annually to charitable organizations and continue to serve not only as places of business, but act as community pillars to the diverse customer base they serve.
