Updated Reg Alert: Hours Of Service Waiver Extended Under Both State and Federal Actions
TFFA StaffThursday, March 18, 2021*|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hours Of Service Waiver Extended Under Both State and Federal ActionsWednesday, March 18, 2021 – TFFA has learned the DPS will recognize the Federal Regional Waiver for Part 390-399 as having precedence under the renewed Disaster Declaration issued by Governor Greg Abbott earlier this week.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s extension and expansion (added the state of Tennessee to the regional list of states covered) of the waiver will take effect at midnight, March 20, 2021. The previous waiver will expire at 11:59 p.m., March 19, 2021. This means there will not be a gap where the waiver isn’t in effect. Additionally, the Governor’s Declaration was renewed effective March 14th, and with the DPS recognition of this will not allow any gaps in the state’s emergency order.
This means the hours of service waiver applies to both interstate and intrastate carriers.
TFFA would recommend carriers print out the attached pdf. and place a copy in each cab in case your driver is pulled over.View the waiver by clicking the link below.
