  • The E.K. Bennett Award

    ekbennett

Each year a deserving member of the Texas Food & Fuel Association™ is honored with the E.K. Bennett Award, a recognition named after the first president and one of the founders of the Association.

This award recognizes exemplary service to the petroleum marketing industry and the Association. Recipients must provide outstanding service to civic, community and/or religious endeavors, distinguish themselves as leaders in the petroleum & marketing industry and render excellent service to the public through marketing practices.

    About E.K.

The late E.K. Bennett was the owner of E.K. Bennett, Inc., a Longview distributorship. Mr. Bennett helped form the Texas Oil Jobbers Association in 1949 "as a means of seeking industrial justice and forestalling the bitterness that brings on still more government interference."

After formal procedures, the board elected Mr. Bennett as the first president of the Association for a two-year term. For the next 36 years he remained a vital part of the activities of the Association. In 1984, the Association honored Mr. Bennett with a distinguished service award for his outstanding leadership.
